Consultation
A consultation is an important part
of any holistic treatment and will
usually last for about fifteen minutes,
although the first consultation might
take longer. The consultation takes
place before the treatment and the
Aromatherapist will ask questions
regarding your lifestyle, medical
conditions and history, your objectives
for receiving the treatment and what
is currently going on in your life.
These questions will allow the therapist
to treat you in a holistic way (physically,
mentally and spiritually) based on
the information given and also identify
if there are medical reasons, (contra-indications)
why the treatment should not take
place (please
refer to the Aromatherapy
Prices page for
the list of conditions not suitable
for Aromatherapy).
All information given is confidential
and all details will be securely stored
to ensure your privacy. The consultation
will also give you time to ask any
questions or air any concerns that
you may have about the treatment to
the therapist. It will also help you
get to know the therapist and develop
a good relationship with her and vice
versa.
Allergy
Patch Test
If you have not experienced the use
of essential oils before, or suffer
from very sensitive skin, it would
be advisable to have a patch test
done. Diluted oil is applied to the
back of the ear and left for 24 hours
to see if there is any reaction.
Treatments
Tranquility offers a range of Aromatherapy
treatments, all of which can be tailored
to suit your needs. Detailed below
are two examples of treatments, but
for further information please refer
to our price list for the cost and
range of treatments offered.
Full
body massage
After your consultation the therapist
will have established the reasons
for why you are in need of an aromatherapy
treatment. Based on the information
given the therapist then will choose
the essential oils suitable for your
condition(s). These essential oils
are then blended with a carrier or
base oil for application by massage.
You will have already undressed in
private down to your underwear and
will be lying face down on the couch
covered in towels ready for your massage.
The aromatherapy massage will then
begin, starting with a deep relaxing
massage to your back and shoulders
and back of legs. The therapist will
then ask you to turn over onto your
back. The therapist will continue
your massage starting with your legs,
then onto your arms and stomach. At
the end of the massage the therapist
will finish with a very relaxing facial
massage.
Cellulite
treatment (Body brush supplied
to client for own use)
The thighs are brushed vigorously
to improve circulation and to get
rid of toxins, the whole legs are
then massaged with a blend of essential
oils which are known to improve skin
condition and assist with the elimination
of toxins.
After
Treatment
After your massage you will be left
alone on the couch and be allowed
to ‘come round’ in your
own time, water will be given as refreshment.
The therapist will record the oils
used on your treatment card, detailing
the effects of the oils used and any
advice given to you. Your therapist
will also discuss and agree with you,
your treatment plan and go through
the aftercare advice sheet. It is
very difficult to predict how you
will feel after a treatment as so
many people react in different ways
after receiving a massage. However
clients may experience some the following:
Lethargy, relaxation, release of tension,
soreness of muscles, redness of skin,
feeling of well being and in some
cases a marked increase in energy
levels.
Healing Crisis
After a treatment some clients may
experience what therapists call ‘a
healing crises’ and you may
experience the following:
A headache, Cold/Flu symptoms, going
to the toilet more often and emotional
upset (crying).
If you do experience healing crises,
there is nothing to be alarmed about,
it is the body’s way of naturally
removing the toxins and negative energy
which have been released during the
treatment. The symptoms should only
last for a couple of days, but if
you are at all concerned please do
not hesitate to speak to your therapist.
