About
Reiki
The
word 'Reiki'
(pronounced Ray Kee)
is translated as 'Universal
Life Energy' or 'Spiritual
Energy'.
The word is divided into 2
parts:
Rei is translated
as 'wisdom and knowledge of
all the Universe' or 'atmosphee
of the Divine'. In short,
it means the Higher Intelligence
that guides the creation and
functioning of the Universe.
This comes from, what some
call, God, the Source, the
Higher Power or the Creator.
Ki is the life force
energy that flows through
every living thing (plants,
animals, people), it is present,
in some form, in everything
around us, even in rocks and
inanimate objects.

The Healing System:
Reiki is a healing system developed
in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist priest
Dr Mikao Usui, who after many years
of study, discovered a way of accessing
and using this healing energy, and
passing this ability on to other people.
Today, a portion of the practice is
used as a form of complementary and
alternative medicine.
It is believed that physical body
illness and disease can be reduces
by looking after your energy body,
commonly known as the 'Aura'.
In addition to the aura, our body
contains some energy centres known
as 'Chakras'. Your aura energy field
protects your 'Chakras' just as your
physical body protects your vital
organs.
Chakra, a Sanskrit word meaning wheel
or vortex, vibrate evenly in a circular
motion, shaped like a funnel which
is narrow close to the body and becoming
wider further away.
There are 7 major chakras in the human
energy body.

Everything that happens to us, good
or bad, has an affect on our chakras
and aura.
To explain, falling in love can have
an amazingly beneficial effect on
our whole energy body, making it sparkle
with colour. However, emotional or
mental traumas, and even negative
words, can have detrimental effects
on our energy levels. If a particular
chakra becomes imbalanced, blocked
or closed this could effect the mental
body and the associated physical body
parts.

Reiki can help balance the chakras
which in turn can improve our physical,
mental and emotional well being.
This does not mean if your having
a hard time at work, due to colleagues,
reiki will solve the problem, It wont!
it may temporarily easy the stress
of the situation but the underlined
problem will still exist, only you
can fix that.
Reiki is performed as a whole-body
treatment. The practitioner asks the
recipient to lie down and relax, the
practitioner may take a moments to
enter a meditative state of mind,
mentally preparing themself for the
treatment. The treatment proceeds
with the practitioner placing his
hands on the recipient in various
positions. Practitioners may use a
non-touching technique, where the
hands are held a few centimeters away
from the recipient's body, for some
or all of the positions.
The hands are usually kept still for
3 to 5 minutes before moving to the
next position. Overall, the hand positions
usually give a general coverage of
the head, the front and back of the
torso, the knees and feet. Between
12 and 20 positions are used, with
the whole treatment lasting 45 to
90 minutes.
Keep in mind! Reiki is an Intelligent
force, no matter what hand positions
are used, Reiki will flow to where
it's needed most! usually for the
recipient's highest, greatest good.
In some cases the practitioner may
spend longer in some positions then
others due to intuition guiding them.
