Reiki Attunement and Training

Introduction
Reiki is the life energy of the universe and works in many different ways, the main ones being healing and spiritual growth. By being attuned to Reiki you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself, others and the world around you. Reiki attunement should not be taken lightly, as you must be prepared for the changes that are encountered as you take responsibility for your own self-healing and development on all levels. Once attuned to Reiki you will have it for life, use it and experiment with it as you think fit, read all you can on the subject to expand your knowledge on the ways Reiki can be applied. Used in healing Reiki complements conventional medicine and should only be used as such. At no time should you encourage anyone to cease or replace orthodox medical care with Reiki. Reiki is an amazing tool and being attuned to the energy is your first step to a wonderful journey of self discovery.

Reiki Attunement: What to expect
Attunement affects people very differently and it is very difficult to predict how a student will react. During an initiation some students can experience spiritual awakening, they can become emotional and feel physical sensations of tingling, heat, cold, and yet some students experience nothing at all. However the most important thing to remember is that your Master will give you her full support during your initiation and will carry on giving support after the initiation if you require it.
Prior to your initiation you will meet with your Master for a discussion and a sample of healing. You will be asked what you know about Reiki (First Degree only) and why you would like to be initiated. You will then be given student notes to read and take away with you. You are not expected to make a decision straight away on whether you want to be attuned by Tranquility, unless of course you want to. As a potential student choosing a Master is an important step on your Reiki journey and time should be given to make the correct choice for you. You should feel drawn to your Master’s energy, if you feel uneasy on meeting your Master then this is a sure sign that you have not met the right Master to train you. This also is true for the Master as they will assess the student to see if they are suitable to train with them.

The First Degree
Main requirement for this degree is the desire to have Reiki as a means of helping yourself to evolve, heal and change on all levels.
First degree is a two day course, consisting of four attunements, healing, course notes and meditation. Complementary refreshments including lunch will be given throughout the duration of the course. On completion of the course you will receive your certificate.

Second Degree
A student must have taken First degree Reiki (not necessarily with Tranquility) before taking the Second degree. Students must present either case studies for three recipients (either animal, plant or human) or an account on their own personal healing. Second degree is usually taught three months after taking the first degree once the student provides evidence on how they have been working with Reiki. During the initiation the student will be attuned to the Usui Reiki symbols and the student must be willing to accept, practice and work with these symbols.
Second Degree is a one day course consisting of 2 attunements, healing, course notes, meditation and working with the symbols. Complementary refreshments including lunch will be given throughout the duration of the course. On completion of the course you will receive your certificate.

Third Degree Master/Teacher
A student must have taken Second Degree Reiki (not necessarily with Tranquility) before taking the Third Degree. Students must present either case studies for three recipients (either animal, plant or human) to show how they have been working with Reiki and the Second Degree symbols. As to when you advance onto this Degree usually depends entirely on the individual. You should however be familiar and proficient at drawing and visualizing the Second Degree symbols as the use of these are used in all initiations of First, Second and Master Degree. During the initiation the student will be attuned to the Usui Reiki Master symbol and students are required to practice and use this along with the Second Degree symbols. The aim of this course is for a student to attune their own student to First Degree in the presence of their Master. On successful attunement of your student you will receive your certificate.
Third Degree is a three day course consisting of 3 attunements, healing, course notes, meditation, working with and using the symbols in a First Degree initiation simulation. Complementary refreshments including lunch will be given throughout the duration of the course. On completion of the course and attunement of your student you will receive your certificate. Please note that this training schedule is only a guide as Master teacher training length is different for each individual and takes as many sessions as needed to require proficiency.
